Nov. 16, 2009 (TheNewswire.ca) --
Anglo Canadian Uranium Corp. (TSX-V: URA) is pleased to announce receipt of gold assay results from the Poularies Gold property, located in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt of south-western Quebec, 42 km north of the town of Rouyn-Noranda. New gold (OOTC:NEGWF) assay results on selected grab samples collected during the 2009 summer preliminary exploration program reveal that the pyrite-bearing quartz veins contain from 0.60 to 17.6 g/t Au. These samples were taken from trenches previously excavated in the 1950's, and have been exposed to the elements for over 50 years. The historical trench area extends for a distance of more than 100 meters in length. These trenches are poorly exposed, filled with water, moss, bush and trees. The Company intends to clean out the trenches and strip moss and trees of nearby outcrops which will expose fresh quartz. An additional sampling program will be undertaken after these practises which may deliver stronger results. The Company will follow this preliminary investigation of the property with a program of geological mapping and sampling extended to the entire property underlain by tonalite rocks. A heliborne EM and magnetic survey is also planned for the coming months.

This property is located 15 km north of the gold discovery made by Clifton Star Resources, and is readily accessible to all facilities and infrastructure. The Clifton Star discovery has drawn the Company to the Noranda area. Over the past 85 years, the Noranda region has hosted over twenty (20) VMS and gold deposits. The Poularies property is underlain by Archean synvolcanic tonalitic rocks of the Poularies pluton that intrude coeval metavolcanic rocks of the Hunter Mine Group. The main Poularies showing occurs in trenches exposing gold-bearing cm-thick quartz veins containing 1 to 8% pyrite that follow a small N10°E to N40°E- oriented shear zone in altered (chloritized, pyritized and silicified) tonalite wall rocks.
The Qualified Person for current research efforts and future project efforts will be Michel Boily, PhD., a registered professional geoscientist with the Ordre des Géologues du Québec.
