Kaplan has received a request from Dr. Dai Jia Gan Vice Chancellor of the Beijing Normal University of Beijing, China asking Mr. Kaplan to lead a committee for the formation of a new major School of Agriculture on the University's Zhuhai Campus, expected to be the leading School of Agriculture in China, a nation of more than 900 million farmers and agricultural workers.\r\n\r\nIn a letter dated October 30, 2002, Dr. Dai states: "Dear Mr. Kaplan, The world-renowned Beijing Normal University, with its 100th anniversary this year, is seriously interested in developing a new School of Agriculture in the Special Economic Zone in Zhuhai, China. As such, we would like to ask you, Chairman Norman C. Kaplan of Calcol Inc. and Chairman of Sanhe Meile Soft Drinks Co. Ltd. the founder of the Norman C. Kaplan Fund of Water Resource Management of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; Mr. Ji Jun, President and General Manager of Sanhe Meile Soft Drinks Co. Ltd., and Vice President, Calcol Inc.; Professor Gong Shaopeng of Beijing Foreign Affairs College and Director- General of Beijing Center of Jewish Studies, and your good friends in Israel, including the Dean -Emeritus of the Faculty of Agriculture of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem Dr. Yona Chen, to help us to develop a program for the Beijing Normal University School of Agriculture in Zhuhai and to advise us on the selection of a faculty and Dean of International Renown, and to help us to build the world-famous Agriculture School.
