[{"type":"text","content":"\n \nRNS Number : 6090K Breedon Aggregates Ld 19 July 2011  \n \n\n                                                                        \n \n19 July 2011 \nBREEDON AGGREGATES LIMITED\n(\"BREEDON AGGREGATES\" OR THE \"COMPANY\")\n \nMAJOR BOOST TO BREEDON AGGREGATES' MINERAL RESERVES\n \nBreedon Aggregates Limited, the UK's largest independent aggregates producer, has secured a significant boost to its long-term mineral reserves with a major extension to its hard rock quarry at Leaton in Shropshire.\n \nConsent has been granted by the local planning authority for Breedon Aggregates to access approximately 12 million tonnes of additional rock deposits.  This brings its total permitted reserves at Leaton to over 20 million tonnes, extending the life of the quarry to more than 25 years.  The Company has also been granted permission to increase production at the site to 750,000 tonnes per annum.  \n \nThe consent is subject to a section 106 agreement - the terms of which have been agreed - and the creation of a new site access, part of a package of proposals to develop the site in an environmentally acceptable manner over the long term. \n \nCommenting on the new consent Tim Hall, chief executive of Breedon Aggregates England, said: \"We're delighted to have secured the future of Leaton for the next 30 years.  This extension will ensure that it realises its full potential as one of the group's leading producers of crushed rock, asphalt and ready-mixed concrete.\"\n \n- ends -\n \n \n \n \n \n \n- 2 -\n \nNote to editors\n \nLeaton quarry near Telford in Shropshire has been in use since the 1960s.  It produces crushed hardstone, much of which is combined with bitumen at its asphalt plant to produce a wide variety of road surfacing materials.  It also produces ready-mixed concrete for use in a wide range of local construction projects.\n \nLeaton is one of 23 quarries in ...
