During commissioning, treated water from the plant achieved\nselenium concentrations below the 1 part per billion detection limit\nof the local analytical laboratory. At the site, the plant will\noperate downstream of a treatment system to remove suspended solids\nand metals designed by\n \n WesTech Engineering, a US based\nsupplier of equipment and water treatment systems for municipal and\nindustrial applications.\n \n \n \n \n BQE Water will operate the\n \n Selen-IX™ plant\nunder contract to\n \n WesTech who manages overall site\noperations. Project requirements call for the plant to operate 50\nhours per week from Monday to Friday and be able to match weather\ndependent water inflows. With the ability to start up and shut down\noperations as needed and ramp up and down to adjust for the volume of\nwater to be treated, Selen-IX™ as a non-biological technology, is\nthe only commercially viable solution to tackle these requirements.\n \n \n \n “Very early on, we recognized the benefits of BQE Water’s\nSelen-IX™ technology for ash pond remediation and are extremely\nhappy that Selen-IX™ performs to and exceeds expectations. We are\nalso excited to combine our core strengths and expertise with those of\nBQE Water in providing the power generation industry with a\nnon-biological selenium treatment option that produces superior\neffluent water quality, allows for operational flexibility unheard of\nwith competing biological systems, and reduces treatment risks and\ncosts,” stated Philip Lake, EVP Service...
