(TSX: BLU) (\"BELLUS Health\" or the \"Company\"), a drug\n development company focused on rare diseases, today reported its\n financial and operating results for the second quarter ended June 30,\n 2014.\n\n\nHighlights \n\n\n\n\n\n\nCompleted targeted enrollment of 230 patients for KIACTA™ Phase III\n Confirmatory Study in AA amyloidosis;\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKIACTA™ Phase III Confirmatory Study on track to conclude in 2016, with\n more than 50% of the targeted number of events linked to the\n deterioration of kidney function having been reached;\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRecommendation of the Data and Safety Monitoring Board to continue the\n KIACTA™ Phase III Confirmatory Study as per protocol, based on its\n review on April 15, 2014;\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresented an update on the KIACTA™ Phase III Confirmatory Study's\n progress at the XIVth International Symposium on Amyloidosis in Indianapolis on April 28,\n 2014;\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAmendment to the KIACTA™ asset sale and license agreement in relation to\n the share of proceeds from a potential divestiture of KIACTA™;\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBELLUS Health's clinical development partner, Auven Therapeutics,\n engaged Lazard as a financial advisor to explore the sale of KIACTA™;\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLicense agreement for the development of KIACTA™ in sarcoidosis entered\n into by Auven Therapeutics with Mount Sinai Hospital;\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConcluded the quarter with a cash position of $13.1 million, which\n should enable the Company to finance its operations beyond the end of\n the Phase III Confirmatory Study for KIACTA™.\n\n\n\n\"During the second quarter, momentum continued to build in the KIACTA™\n program through the completion of targeted enrollment in the Phase III\n Confirmatory Study for AA amyloidosis and the addition of a second rare\n disease indication,\" said Roberto Bellini, President and Chief\n Executive Officer of BELLUS Health.\n\n\nPhase III Confirmatory Study for KIACTA™ \n\n\nDuring the second quarter of 2014, the KIACTA™ Phase III Confirmatory\n Study completed its targeted enrollment of 230 patients from more than\n 70 sites in 30 countries.
