(TSX: BLU) (BELLUS\n Health or the Company), a drug development company focused on rare\n diseases, today narrowed timelines for the Phase III Confirmatory Study\n for KIACTA™ in AA amyloidosis and reported its financial and operating\n results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2015.\n\n\nHighlights \n\n\n\nApproximately 85% of the required events to complete the Phase III\n Confirmatory Study for KIACTA™ have occurred;\n\n\nKIACTA™ Phase III Confirmatory Study now expected to conclude by the end\n of the first quarter of 2016, with top-line data expected to be\n available in the middle of 2016;\n\n\nConcluded the quarter with a cash position of $10.7 million, which\n should enable the Company to finance its operations beyond the data\n readout for the KIACTA™ Phase III Confirmatory Study.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKIACTA™ for AA amyloidosis - Timelines Update \n\n\nTo date, approximately 85% of the required events to complete the Phase\n III Confirmatory Study for KIACTA™ have occurred. The KIACTA™ Phase III\n Confirmatory Study is an event-driven trial that will conclude when 120\n patients have experienced an event linked to the deterioration of\n kidney function. Based on the event rate, the Company anticipates the\n study will meet the 120 events required to complete the trial by the\n end of the first quarter of 2016.\n\n\nConcurrently, management expects that top-line data from the study,\n which is designed to confirm the safety and efficacy of KIACTA™ in\n preventing renal function decline in patients diagnosed with AA\n amyloidosis, will be available in the middle of 2016.\n\n\n\"We are excited about our progress with the KIACTA™ program and these\n narrowed timelines,\" said Roberto Bellini, President and Chief\n Executive Officer of BELLUS Health. \"We are approximately six months\n away from study completion, and less than a year away from providing\n KIACTA™ top-line data.\"\n\n\nDuring the second quarter of 2015, the KIACTA™ Phase III Confirmatory\n Study continued to progress, following patient enrollment completion in\n January 2015.
