[{"type":"text","content":"DALLAS, March 23, 2005 - Keith Houser, CEO of BioTech Medics, Inc., (Pink Sheets: BTMD) announced today that BioTech Medics, Inc., has closed on the acquisition of five FHJ Scientific US Letters of Patent and related foreign patents worth at least $1.25 million. The patents cover the proprietary SHBAN (TM) compound solution. Scientific evidence and studies by top medical institutions suggest the unique SHBAN solution may be used in a variety of ways such as aiding the healing of gingivitis or gum disease, wound healing, antiseptic nasal spray, sunburn and burn healing, psoriasis, fungal infections such as athletes foot, eye infections and cuts or abrasions.\r\n\r\n\"The asset acquisition is a major accomplishment for BTMD and part of our long-term planning. BTMD was able to acquire the patents, which have over 15 years of research and development, for stock in BTMD,\" said Mr. Houser.\r\n\r\n Mr. Delton Carrell, President/CEO of FHJ Scientific indicated at the closing that several reputable organizations have assisted FHJ in the clinical research for the various uses of the SHBAN solution. Such reputable organizations include but are not limited to Baylor College of Dentistry, Dept. of Periodontis & BioMedical Sciences, Dallas, TX; The University of Texas Medical Center/Shriners Burn Institute, Galveston, TX; and the Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. Baylor College of Medicine is a shareholder in FHJ and the patents. Baylor College of Medicine will now become a shareholder in BTMD as a result of the acquisition. \r\n\r\nOther notable individuals who have assisted with the SHBAN compound development according to Mr. Carrell include but are not limited to Edward J. Cragoe, Jr., Ph.D.; Robert E. Anderson, M.D., Ph.D., and Roger W. Beuerman, Ph.D. Dr. Cragoe has previously invented or co-invented prescription drugs for Merck. Dr. Anderson is a Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Oklahoma Center for Neuroscience at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Centers. Dr. Beuerman is Professor of Ophthalmology, Anatomy & Psychiatry at Louisiana State University College of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. Dr. Cragoe and Dr. Anderson become shareholders in BTMD as part of the FHJ patent asset acquisition by BTMD.
