Claims granted under the new patent cover methodologies related to brown adipocytes from human brown adipose (fat)-derived stem cells. Brown adipocytes are a type of fat tissue found in humans that regulate metabolic activity. Initial preclinical research indicates that increased amounts of brown fat in animals may be responsible for additional caloric burning as well as reduced glucose and lipid levels.
