[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\n\nCALGARY, May 22, 2015 /CNW/ - The countdown to the 2015 Eddies Short Film Festival is on! On June 6th, at Calgary's Theatre Grand Junction, 3 Canadian producers will walk away with cash prizing among the highest payouts in North America for a short film and the coveted Eddies award. \n\nThis year marks the 22nd year that Big Rock Brewery has hosted the Eddies, but it will be the first year the brewery is focusing on short films. Past Eddies have called on participants to create commercials that featured their favourite Big Rock beers, while raising funds for charity. Recognizing the need to evolve with this event, but also give back to the community, Big Rock has partnered with Calgary Underground Film Festival and Calgary International Film Festival to promote the event and show the winning shorts at their respective festivals. Any funds raised will be going back to support the film community via honorariums to CIFF and CUFF.\n\nBig Rock event organizer Mike Garth is excited about the new focus and the chance to pay it forward. \"We've been long supporters of arts and culture in Canada. This year we wanted to put on a show about film, for filmmakers, while still living up the Eddies reputation of hosting one heck of a party.\"  \n\nAmong the judges on this years' panel are Emmy Award winning producer of Fargo and Calgarian Chad Oakes, star of Hell on Wheels Anson Mount, Brenda Lieberman from Calgary Underground Film Festival, Steve Schrader from Calgary International Film Festival, David Gray of CBC Eyeopener, and Big Rock Brewmaster Paul Gautreau. \n\nThis year's show will pay special tribute to the heart of the Eddies, Big Rock Brewery founder Ed McNally, who sadly passed away last fall. A tribute will also be paid to Michael Green. Green was a leader in the Canadian arts scene, and key creative behind numerous Eddies. \n\nSubmissions from across the country are in. The finalists have been notified, the judges are assembling to debate their top picks… now all we need is for you to join us. #EddiesFilm\n\nFor tickets follow the link below: https://tickets.theatrejunction.com/TheatreManager/1/login&event=536\n\nTo view the trailer for The 2015 Eddies click here: https://youtu.be/-YHJiJHeics \n\nAbout Big Rock Brewery Inc. \n\nBig Rock Brewery Inc. - headquartered in Calgary, Alberta - produce...
