Rather than complicate matters by tracking down established import brews, Ed took the \"easy\" way out and started his own brewery. Fast forward to the celebration of Big Rock's 30th anniversary this Saturday, and Ed's entrepreneurial spirit continues to propel the Calgary based brewery today. His spirit and vision have also played key roles in building the foundation for a thriving craft brewing scene right across Canada.\n\nPaul Gautreau, Brewmaster at Big Rock, has been with the brewery for 29 years. On Saturday, September 26th, he and his fellow Big Rocker's will be hosting a community celebration at the brewery and everyone is welcome.\n\n\"This is an opportunity for us to thank this community for embracing Big Rock and supporting us throughout the years. By swinging the doors wide open on the brewery it's a great chance to get a behind the scenes look at how craft beer is made and meet the passionate people behind it. We also get to share our space with fellow craft brewers from across Alberta and other artisans [and artists] through our market and music stage,\" says Gautreau. \n\nHighlights: Event runs 10 am – 7 pm. Free breakfast from our friends from Stampede Caravan friends. Free brewery tours. Our outdoor market will feature everything from antique furniture to home baking. yycfoodtrucks and The Big Rock Grill will be serving up tasty bites. Live music featuring artists from the Folk Fest circuit until 7 pm, feature band: The Dead South. Retro pricing of our origina...
