Tambang Mas Sangihe (“TMS” or the “Company”)\n \n\n acknowledges a recently published report by a\nlocal university on Sangihe Island, which documents the environmental\nimpact caused by unregulated and illegal mining activities.\nImportantly, the study relies on baseline environmental data collected\nby the Company, as a benchmark for measuring changes in water, soil,\nand ecosystem health on the island.\n \n\n\n\n The Company undertook comprehensive pre-mining\nenvironmental sampling as part of the process to obtain its legally\nrequired environmental permit (AMDAL). The vast majority of this damage occurred in 2023, when\nillegal miners were active and operating outside of regulatory\noversight and without any environmental considerations. The report\nalso highlights extensive damage done by illegal miners to mangroves\nand coral reefs, elevated heavy metal contamination, and potential\nhealth risks for local communities.\n \n\n\n\n The availability of Baru’s baseline data has been\ncritical to understanding the extent of damage by unregulated activity\non the island. By making its environmental data available, the Company\ndemonstrates its commitment to transparency, science-based monitoring,\nand long-term stewardship of Sangihe’s natural resources.\n \n\n\n\n Mr. Terrence Filbert, CEO of Baru Gold, commented,\n \n\n “Our Company has heard\ndirectly from organizations and individuals across ...
