Further re Merger

Banco Comercial Portugues S.A. 19 June 2000 BANCO COMERCIAL PORTUGUES, S.A. Banco Comercial Portugues, S.A. (BCP, NYSE: BPC, BCPPRA) and Banco Portugues do Atlantico, S.A. ('BPA') shareholders have resolved, in due time, upon the merger by incorporation of BPA into BCP. BCP announces that such merger will become effective as at 30 June, 2000, leading to an issuance of 231,320,000 BCP new shares, corresponding to a share capital increase of 231,320,000 euro, to which is associated an issue premium of 4.80 euro per share.
