[{"type":"text","content":"\n \nRNS Number : 3483T Babcock International Group PLC 05 January 2017 \n\n \n5 January 2017\n \n \nBabcock International Group PLC (Babcock or the Group)\n \nBabcock France wins defence contract for the French Air Force\n \nBabcock France today announces that, following a competitive bid process, France's Direction Générale de l'Armement (DGA) has awarded it a contract to provide and maintain a training platform and related services for the French Air Force (l'Armée de l'Air). The 11-year FOMEDEC contract will provide new training aircraft, related simulators and modernised training facilities for the training of fighter jet crews to be performed by the Air Force itself.\n \nBabcock's share of the FOMEDEC contract is expected to be worth over €500 million, around half of which relates to the financing of assets for the customer. The contract will start immediately and the first aircraft will be delivered in March 2018.\n \nArchie Bethel, Chief Executive of Babcock International Group, said:\n \n\"We are delighted that our French company will be working as a key support partner on this major French defence contract. The project will draw on our expertise in the European aviation industry and our experience of delivering long-term military flight training programmes.
