[{"type":"text","content":"\n Avon Rubber PLC\n14 December 2006\n\n\n\nEmbargoed until 0700 14 December 2006\n\n AVON RUBBER PLC\n\n BOARD CHANGES\n\n\nTrevor Bonner CBE, Chairman of Avon Rubber p.l.c. will step down as Chairman and\nretire from the Board following the Company's Annual General Meeting in January\n2007.\n\nHis successor is The Rt.Hon. Sir Richard Needham who will be appointed as a\nNon-Executive Director and Chairman of Avon Rubber with effect from 26 January\n2007.\n\nTrevor joined the Board of Avon Rubber in 1994 and became Chairman in February\n2001. He was formerly an Executive Director of GKN plc and a former President of\nboth the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders and CLEPA (the European\nAssociation of Automotive Suppliers).\n\nTerry Stead, Chief Executive of Avon Rubber p.l.c. said, 'Trevor has been able\nto combine his experience with a large organisation such as GKN and the needs of\nAvon. His experience and wisdom have been invaluable. He has actively helped to\nrestructure the Group including close involvement in the disposal of the\nAutomotive business. The Board would like to thank him for his excellent\ncontribution and wish him well for the future.\n\nAt the same time, we welcome Sir Richard to the Board. His diverse experience\ngained in industry over a number of years, particularly in manufacturing,\ntogether with his deep knowledge of Government and its interface with trade and\nindustry will, we believe, contribute significantly to Avon's growth prospects,\nparticularly in respiratory protection.'\n\nSince leaving politics, Sir Richard Needham, a former Trade Minister, has been a\nDirector of GEC p.l.c., Meggitt p.l.c. and is currently Vice Chairman of NEC\nEurope.
