AuRico Gold Appoints Janice Stairs, LLB, MBA to the Board of Directors

(TSX: AUQ) (NYSE: AUQ), (\"AuRico\" or the \"Company\") AuRico is pleased to announce the\n appointment of Janice Stairs, LLB, MBA to the Board of Directors of the\n Company.  Ms. Stairs has over 25 years of experience in senior\n management and senior advisory roles with public and private companies\n involved in the natural resource and other sectors. Ms. Stairs is also\n a director of NovaCopper Inc. where she serves as a member of the\n Corporate Governance and Compensation Committees and is a director and\n Chair of Nova Scotia Business Inc. where she serves on the Investment\n Committee. Previously, Ms. Stairs served as General Counsel to\n Endeavour Mining Corporation, was Vice President and Corporate Counsel\n for Etruscan Resources Inc. and prior to 2004 was a partner with the\n law firm of McInnes Cooper where she continues to act as counsel to the\n firm. Ms. Stairs practiced law in private practice for 19 years\n specializing in corporate finance, securities and resource-related\n issues for private and public companies. Ms. Stairs graduated from\n Dalhousie Law School and holds a Masters of Business Administration\n degree from Queen's University.\n\n\nThe Company also announces that Dr. Luis Chavez will resign his position\n as a director of the Company, while remaining as Senior Vice President,\n Mexico.  During his 7 year tenure as director, Dr. Chavez has been\n instrumental in guiding the development of the Company's Mexican\n business unit, an initiative he will continue to lead in his current\n capacity of Senior Vice President, Mexico.\n\n\n\"On behalf of the Board of Directors we are pleased to welcome Janice to\n the AuRico Board.
