[{"type":"text","content":"\n \n \n European Reinsurance Company\n \n \n\n \n Amlin Plc\n \n \n\n \n \n \n Amlin plc announces its intention to establish a European reinsurance \n company in Switzerland\n \n \n Amlin plc (“Amlinâ€) announces its intention to establish a reinsurance \n company in Switzerland to provide European reinsurance buyers with \n Amlin’s first-class security and service delivery. We believe that the \n company will provide the European insurance market with a meaningful \n alternative for high quality reinsurance capacity especially for small \n and mid-sized companies. Amlin aims to establish long-term partnerships \n with companies operating in this sector which will provide the group \n with access to European reinsurance business that does not typically \n flow into the London and Bermuda marketplaces.\n \n \n As part of the project Amlin intends to re-domicile its legal carrier \n Amlin Bermuda Limited (“Amlin Bermudaâ€) from Bermuda to Zurich. It is \n proposed that the new Zurich-based Swiss company will be named Amlin AG \n and that the existing operations of Amlin Bermuda will become a \n Bermuda-based branch of Amlin AG.\n \n \n Amlin remains committed to Bermuda as a key operating platform. Amlin \n has 32 employees in Bermuda and expects that figure to grow over the \n years as the Bermuda business develops further. Amlin Bermuda will \n continue to serve its existing reinsurance clients and brokers in \n exactly the same manner as it does today. Amlin Bermuda policyholders \n will be unaffected by the redomicile. Amlin plc remains a UK domiciled \n company.\n \n \n Amlin AG’s Zurich-based underwriting unit (to trade as “Amlin Re \n Europeâ€) will be staffed by a core team recruited from Swiss Re, headed \n by Philippe Regazzoni who will become Chief Executive Officer of Amlin \n AG.\n \n \n “This is an exciting opportunity to establish another significant \n reinsurance business with a first-class underwriting team, led by \n Philippe Regazzoni, which possesses a wealth of experience in \n Continental European markets†commented Charles Philipps, Chief \n Executive Officer of Amlin plc.\n \n \n Mr Regazzoni added, “We are excited by the prospect of building a third \n significant reinsurance business within the Amlin group and helping to \n reinforce Amlin’s position and brand as a leading internat...
