[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\nOTTAWA, Nov. 6 /CNW/ - Jaya Chandrasekar, Vice-President Programming for\nAsian Television Network International Limited (ATN) (TSX-SAT), was inducted\ninto The Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) Broadcast Hall of Fame,\nprivate broadcasting's highest honor in Canada.\n\n\nThe broadcasting association honored Jaya Chandrasekar as a broadcasting\npioneer who has contributed to the flowering of ethno cultural programming in\nCanada. It noted that throughout her distinguished career, Mrs. Chandrasekar\nhas set a new standard for excellence in broadcasting, ensuring the highest\nquality in programming for her audiences, and fulfilling a commitment to\ncommunity service.\n\n\n"I am deeply honoured, and humbled by this award and I would like to\nshare this award with Shan, and all the talented staff at ATN," said Mrs.\nChandrasekar at the awards ceremony in Ottawa.\n\n\nWith her husband Shan, Jaya Chandrasekar has been a leader in\nbroadcasting first on ATN's programming on Toronto's City TV, and on CFMT. She\nnow plays a central role in the Asian Television Network (ATN), which is\ncurrently made up of fourteen channels serving Canada's South Asian community.\n\n\nAs the network's Executive Vice President and Vice President of\nProgramming, Jaya Chandrasekar is responsible for most of the programming\ncontent on these channels. This includes original Canadian programming\nproduced within ATN's state-of-the-art broadcast and production facilities. As\nCanada's South Asian community has grown, ATN has grown as well, providing the\ncommunity with news, public affairs, entertainment, and specialized sports\nprogramming. This wide selection in programming is the direct result of the\nleadership and hard work of Jaya Chandrasekar and the members of her team.\n\n\nOver the years, Jaya has served as a mentor for a large number of\nbroadcasters and broadcasting professionals, including many from the South\nAsian community, who got their start and learned their craft at ATN.
