[{"type":"text","content":"\n Ashmore Group PLC\n12 September 2007\n\n\n\nNot for release, publication or distribution in or into the United States,\nCanada, Japan, France, New Zealand or the Republic of Ireland\n\n\nASHMORE GROUP PLC ('Ashmore' or the 'Company')\n\nLaunch of Placing in Ashmore Shares\n\nAshmore today announces a secondary placing of up to 26,575,450 ordinary shares\nof 0.01p in Ashmore (the 'Ashmore Shares') by an Ashmore non-executive director\nand certain Ashmore employees and their related interests (the 'Placing'). The\nPlacing, which will be undertaken by way of an accelerated bookbuild process to\ninstitutional investors, represents up to 3.7% of the outstanding issued share\ncapital of Ashmore.\n\nGoldman Sachs International ('Goldman Sachs') and UBS Limited ('UBS') are acting\nas joint global co-ordinators and bookrunners for the Placing.\n\nThe sale price will be determined and announced after closing of the Placing.\nThe timing of closing of the Placing will be determined in due course by Goldman\nSachs and UBS.\n\nImmediately prior to the launch of the Placing, Ashmore's directors, employees\nand their related interests were interested, in aggregate, in 514,315,101\nAshmore Shares representing approximately 72.5% of Ashmore's issued share\ncapital of which 514,048,900 Ashmore Shares (72.5%) were covered by lock-in\narrangements entered into at the time of the Company's IPO in October 2006 (the\n'Lock-in Arrangements'). Assuming the Placing is completed in full, Ashmore's\ndirectors and employees and their related interests will be interested in, in\naggregate, 487,739,651 Ashmore Shares representing approximately 68.8% of\nAshmore's issued share capital, of which 342,699,267 Ashmore Shares (48.3%) will\ncontinue to be governed by the Lock-in Arrangements on a reducing basis until\nthe release of the Company's results for the twelve month period to 30th June\n2009.
