At the same time, supply is increasingly\ndisrupted. As it stands, most of the world has a deficit of this\nimportant rock, with North America, South America, Western Europe and\nmuch of Asia forced to import phosphate. North America alone is\nrunning at an annual deficit of about four million tons, and according\nto a\n \n \n 2022\nassessment by the EPA\n \n \n “trade disputes, and reliance on a\nsmall number of countries for imports have led to limited supply and\ndramatically increased price of phosphate rock.”\n \n \n That poses a potential\nrisk to the world’s food supply, with\n \n \n agriculture\nproduction poised to grow 60% by 2050\n \n \n . And with the world\n \n \n showing\nindications\n \n \n of moving toward Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP)\nbatteries to power EVs and store wind and solar energy, the need for\nphosphate will likely only grow. The global phosphate market is\n \n \n projected\nto reach $16.8 billion in 2023\n \n \n and hit $21.4 billion by\n2033.\n \n \n Currently, 85% of all mines\nproducing phosphate are owned by fertilizer companies yet even with\nthis, many companies are not self-reliant, including North America’s\nlargest,\n \n Mosaic Co.\n \n (NYSE: MOS), and are forced to import rock.\nThat carries its own risks. Much of the phosphate rock supply is found\nin the Middle East and North Africa or MENA region, which is facing\npolitical unrest and economic instability. That makes getting it from\noutside sources costly and unreliable. It is also why\n \n Arianne\nPhosphate Inc.’s\n \n (OTCMKTS: DRRSF) Lac à Paul Phosphate project\nholds promise.\n \n \n Big And Independent\n \n \n Lac à Paul is home to\nthe world’s largest greenfield phosphate phosphate deposit and is\nlocated in mining-friendly, geopolitically-safe Québec, Canada. The\ngeology of the project is also rare as it is igneous, as opposed to\nsedimentary. This geology allows the company to produce a high-quality\nphosphate...
