[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n \n \nCHAIRMAN'S COMMENTS AT THE 2025 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING\n\nAntofagasta plc (the \"Company\") hereby releases the script to be used by the Chairman, Jean-Paul Luksic at the Company's Annual General Meeting, which will be held at 10:00 am (UK) today.\n \n\nGood morning and welcome to Antofagasta plc's 2025 Annual General Meeting.\nIt is a pleasure to be with you once again, and I confirm that we have a quorum present.\nWe have almost all of the Board here today, along with our CEO, Iván Arriagada, and members of the executive team. If you'd like to know more about your Board, you can find their biographies and committee roles on pages 12 to 17 of the Notice of Meeting.\nAs is customary, I'll begin with a few reflections on our performance in 2024, and an update on the strategic progress of your Company. Iván will then speak in more detail, before we move to the formal business of today's meeting.\nAnd after that, I will open the floor to your questions.\nSafety performance\nLet's start with safety, I am especially pleased to report a year of record safety performance - a fundamental priority for the Board.\n2024 was another fatality-free year for the Group, and we finished the year ahead of our long-term average metrics for safety as well as being ahead of other industry benchmarks.\nThis result is particularly encouraging when you consider that it includes more than 10,000 contractors being mobilised across our major construction sites at Los Pelambres and Centinela during the year.\nThis is a strong demonstration of our culture and the professionalism of our workforce. Safety is not just a policy - it is a mindset. And I would like to thank all of our teams across the Group for their commitment.\nCopper: A metal for the future\nI would like to say a few words on copper's role as a metal of the future. Antofagasta is the only large-scale pure-play copper producer in the FTSE100 and we are one of the top 10 largest producers in the world, so your company is leveraged to the positive and significant long-term demand drivers that we are seeing for copper in the global economy.\nCopper is the metal for electrification.
