[{"type":"text","content":"\n Anglo Asian Mining PLC\n03 July 2006\n\nThe following announcement replaces RNS 5218F released today at 07:00 which was \na duplicate of a previous announcement.\n\n3rd July 2006\n\n\n\n\n ANGLO ASIAN MINING PLC\n ('Anglo Asian' or 'the Company')\n\n\n APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF EXECUTIVE\n\n\nAnglo Asian Mining PLC (AIM: AAZ) the gold and copper development company with\nprojects in Azerbaijan, confirms that Mr Gordon Lewis has today joined the Board\nof Directors as Chief Executive.\n\n\nOver the course of his career, Mr Lewis has worked as a senior mining executive\non a significant number of projects across a range of emerging markets. He\npreviously managed Avocet Mining PLC's Indonesian operations, including taking\nthe North Lanut gold mine from in-fill drilling through to production and\noverseeing the start up of Malaysia's largest gold mine. He has also run various\nmining operations for RTZ and, more recently, was Chief Operating Officer of\nAlexander Mining PLC.\n\n\nMr Lewis is a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and\nholds a First Class Mine Manager's Certificate, South Australia.\n\n\nThe Board believes that Mr Lewis's experience is a tremendous asset for the\nCompany and will help it to achieve its stated goals. His appointment is a\ncontinuation of the Company's strategy of recruiting to the Board high-quality\nindividuals with in-depth experience of the mining sector and he will initially\nbe located in Azerbaijan. Mr Charles Hancock will step down from the Chief\nExecutive role but remain on the Board as a non executive director.\n\n\nMr Mascall, the Chairman of the Company, commented, 'We are very excited that\nGordon has agreed to join and to strengthen the Board further. His previous\noperational experience will provide a further substantial impetus to the\ndevelopment of Anglo Asian's projects in Azerbaijan.
