[{"type":"text","content":"\n Hambledon Mining PLC\n12 February 2008\n\n\n HAMBLEDON MINING PLC\n (AIM: HMB)\n\n Boiler accident at Sekisovskoye\n\nHambledon Mining plc ('Hambledon' or the 'Group' or the 'Company'), the\nAIM-listed gold mining and processing company operating in Kazakhstan, regrets\nto announce that this morning the eluate heating boiler in the desorption\ncircuit at its process plant at the gold mine at Sekisovskoye ruptured,\nregrettably resulting in the death of one employee.\n\nThe boiler is a standard piece of equipment and was used in the gold stripping\narea of the processing circuit where the gold is removed from the loaded carbon\nby passing a heated solution of cyanide and sodium hydroxide through the carbon\ncolumn. Damage to the process plant was minimal with only the boiler itself\nsuffering major damage. No solutions were lost and no environmental pollution\noccurred.\n\nThe plant, which had been operating normally, has been stopped whilst the cause\nof the explosion is investigated. Production from the open pit will\naverage over 40,000 ounces per annum.
