[{"type":"text","content":"\n Alba Mineral Resources PLC\n15 November 2006\n\n\n\nAlba Mineral Resources plc ('Alba' or 'the Company')\n\nStrategic Investment in Uranium Exploration in Mauritania\n\n\nAlba Mineral Resources plc, the UK based exploration company with a diversified\ncommodities portfolio, has a strategic investment in a uranium exploration\nventure through a 50 per cent. holding in a private mineral exploration company,\nMauritania Ventures Limited (MVL).\n\n\nAlba is pleased to announce that MVL, which was established to investigate the\nuranium potential of north-eastern Mauritania in North West Africa, has recently\nbeen awarded two uranium exploration permits with an additional four uranium\nexploration permits pending. Work programmes have commenced and field programmes\nare scheduled for January 2007.\n\n\nHighlights\n\n• The permit areas are contained within a zone considered highly prospective \n for unconformity-type uranium mineralization analogous to that found in the \n Athabasca Basin region of Western Canada.\n\n• Airborne geophysics (radiometrics) flown on behalf of the Mauritanian \n Government reveals radiometric anomalies coincident with target rock horizons\n within MVL's area of focus.\n\n• Airborne radiometrics have proven to be a successful exploration technique in \n Eastern Niger where anomalies are associated with all known uranium deposits \n in the area of the Arlit and Akouta uranium deposits, some 1300 miles east of \n MVL's current activity.\n\n\nMichael Nott, Managing Director, Alba Mineral Resources commented, 'This\ninvestment is undoubtedly an important and exciting opportunity for the Company\nto assess, cost-effectively, the uranium potential in Mauritania and comes as a\nresult of a positive interaction between Alba's innovative technical team and\nour new partners logistical and corporate experience in Mauritania.\n\n\nThe investment gives our shareholders exposure to an exciting commodity in a\ngeologically diverse and highly prospective country.
