[{"type":"text","content":" New Filter for Multiple Enterprise-Class Wi-Fi 7 Access Points with MU-MIMO ArchitecturesAdvanced Single-Crystal Material Delivers Improved Power Handling and Harmonics over Existing Poly-Crystal MaterialsCustomer Wi-Fi Routers Expected to Ship First Half CY24 Charlotte, N.C., Aug. 17, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Akoustis Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKTS) (“Akoustis” or the “Company”), an integrated device manufacturer (IDM) of patented bulk acoustic wave (BAW) high-band RF filters for mobile and other wireless applications, announced today that it has shipped samples of a new advanced single-crystal XBAW® filter solution to a tier-1 enterprise-class Wi-Fi access point (AP) customer. The filter targets next-generation enterprise Wi-Fi 7 architectures that enable faster speeds, support more connections, and provide greater adaptability with reliable low latency performance. Akoustis has completed a re-development of its advanced single-crystal nanomaterials and has created a new process that delivers BAW filters with higher power handling and improved harmonics over its standard poly-crystal technology. Higher power handling offers AP makers the ability to design products with higher transmit power and, therefore, greater range and obstruction penetration. Improved harmonics increase the linearity of the power amplifier in the radio chain, reducing noise in the transmit path. The customer plans to use the filter in multiple Wi-Fi 7 routers that are expected to begin shipping in the first half calendar 2024. Currently, the routers are expected to ship with 2X2 and 4X4 multi-user, multiple-in-multiple-out (MU-MIMO) architectures, with multiple XBAW® filters per device. Dave Aichele, EVP of Business Development of Akoustis, stated, “This new technology is being sampled by our top enterprise-class customer for potential use across its future family of Wi-Fi 7 devices.” Mr. Aichele continued, “This new material offers significant improvements in what can be achieved today in our poly crystal technologies, with advantages in power handling and improved harmonics, and allows our customer to further push the boundaries of Wi-Fi performance. We expect this new material to deliver results in BAW across 5G mobile devices, 5G mobile infrastructure, Wi-Fi, automotive, and other markets as we introduce additional single-crystal driven XBAW® filt...
