[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\nTORONTO, May 23, 2013 /CNW/ - JDRF Canada is proud to launch its annual\n JDRF Ride for Diabetes Research campaign in Toronto on May 24, 2013, to\n help accelerate the pace of research to cure, better treat, and prevent\n type 1 diabetes (T1D).\n\n\nThe JDRF Ride Kick Off event in Toronto will be held from 11:45 a.m. to\n 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24 at the Design Exchange located at 234 Bay\n Street, Toronto to inspire more corporate teams and individuals to\n participate in this year's JDRF Ride at the Metro Toronto Convention\n Centre.\n\n\nAfter exceeding last year's goal, organizers are targeting $3.25 million\n for this year at the JDRF Ride in Toronto, with the support of over\n 1,800 corporate teams, primarily from the wealth management, financial\n services, securities, real estate, hotel and restaurant industry, as\n well as legal, insurance and accounting firms.\n\n\n\"It is an honour to be Co-Chair for the 2013 Toronto Ride for the sixth\n consecutive year,\" says Judy Goldring, Executive Vice-President and\n Chief Operating Officer of AGF Management Limited. \"Over the years, I\n have had the opportunity to watch participation in this event grow, I\n look forward to surpassing Toronto's goal again at this year's Ride.\"\n\n\nHelping to kick off the 2013 Ride Campaign will be the following guest\n speakers:\n\n\nJ.P. Savage - Senior Vice-President, Enterprise Technology Management Office,\n Scotiabank, and National Ride Chair.\n\n\nJudy Goldring - Executive Vice-President, Chief Operating Officer, AGF Management Ltd.,\n and Toronto Ride Co-Chair.\n\n\nRon Depaola - Toronto, Regional Manager, JDRF.\n\n\n\n\n\n\"The overwhelming response from the corporate sector shows that\n awareness for this disease is reaching new heights, and it is never too\n early to begin fundraising,\" Goldring added. \"This event is a high\n energy stationary ride that brings together business leaders and\n employees from across Canada, in support of such a meaningful cause.\"\n\n\nT1D is a complex disease that affects the lives of over 300,000\n Canadians.
