TORONTO, June 13 /CNW/ - ARIUS Research Inc. (TSX-VE: ARI) announced
today that Dr. Robert Kerbel one of the Canada's best known and accomplished
cancer researchers, has joined their Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).
Dr. Kerbel is internationally recognized for his achievements in many
areas, most notably for helping to uncover the basis of new blood vessel
formation in tumors ("tumor angiogenesis") and contributing to the development
of "metronomic chemotherapy" concept, an innovative antiangiogenic therapeutic
approach designed to reduce toxicity while maintaining or enhancing efficacy
of chemotherapy treatments for cancer. He has received numerous career awards
including a Research Scholar and then Associate award from the National Cancer
Institute of Canada (NCIC), and was named a Terry Fox Research Scientist of
the NCIC. In 2001, he was awarded a prestigious Canada Research Chair in
Molecular Medicine, and last year he was awarded the Robert Noble Prize for
excellence in cancer research by the NCIC. Dr. Kerbel has published over 270
scientific papers and given over 700 invited scientific lectures since 1975.
