Kodak Accelerates Development of New Image Sensor Products with Acceleware's Cluster Technology

About this update from Acceleware Ltd.

[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\nCALGARY, Sept. 23 /CNW/ - Acceleware(R) Corp. (TSX-V: AXE), a leading\ndeveloper of high performance computing applications, today announced that\nKodak, a world leader in image sensor technology, has adopted Acceleware's\nCluster Solution to accelerate the design process for optoelectronic image\nsensors.\n\n\n"Acceleware's cluster solution helps enable Kodak to develop\nmarket-leading, high-performance image sensor products for consumer,\nprofessional, and advanced applications," said Herb Erhardt, Manager of the\nCMOS Sensors business unit at Kodak. "We have already seen significant\nproductivity improvements that amount to greater than 10X."\n\n\nKodak is using Acceleware's cluster technology in conjunction with\nSynopsys' TCAD Sentaurus Device EMW to design advanced image sensors with\nimproved ultra-low-light performance, faster video and that are more easily\nmanufactured. Acceleware's cluster solution enables companies to significantly\nreduce design cycle times when investigating pixel array performance including\nanalysis of optical crosstalk for normal and oblique incidence light.\nCharacterizing pixel performance due to manufacturing tolerances such as lens\nmisalignment was previously impractical without fast simulations, however this\nis now easily accomplished with Acceleware's highly optimized solution. "We\nhave obtained good correlation between simulated results from the Acceleware\nsolution and our measured results," said Michael Guidash, Manager of CMOS\nsensor advanced development at Kodak.\n\n\n"Acceleware's cluster technology enables companies to shorten the path\nfrom initial concept to robust design, and decrease time-to-market for high\nperformance products," said Dr. Michal Okoniewski, Acceleware's Interim\nPresident and Chief Executive Officer. "We're happy that Kodak recognizes the\nvalue in the solution offered by Acceleware and Synopsys."\n\n\nAs active pixel sensors shrink in size, their dimensions are nearing the\nwavelength of visible light, where diffraction, polarization, and interference\neffects become increasingly important. Although these effects can be analyzed\nusing full-wave electromagnetic simulations such as, the Finite Difference\nTime Domain (FDTD) method, the FDTD algorithm is inherently compute-intensive.\nRealistic simula...
