Born in St. John’s and raised in Torbay, NL.

Schooled at Bishop Field, McDonald Drive Elementary and Junior High and Prince of Wales Collegiate, graduated 1981.

1986: B.Sc. (Honours Geology) Memorial University of Newfoundland.

1989: M.Sc. (Geology) Memorial University of Newfoundland.

1995: Ph.D. (Geology) Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario.

1996: Post-Doctoral fellow, Queen’s University.

1997-2000: Research Scientist, Geological Survey of Canada, Ottawa.

2000-2004: Research Scientist, Canada-Nunavut Geoscience Office, Iqaluit.

2005-2008: Diamond Geologist (Northwest Territories and Nunavut), Indian and Northern Affairs, Yellowknife.
